Who is an ideal candidate for cheekbone reduction?
This is an area concern especially for many Asians who have very large cheeks or cheeks that flaring out.
Many don't like it. It exceeds the line of their face as to some sort of imbalance and asymmetry of the face.
How is the procedure done?
By reducing the bone, or cheekbone, I can achieve a really a narrower face.
This is done by making cuts on the cheekbone much like a facial fracture somebody who broke their face. By making precise cuts and allowing the bones to sort of sink in I can narrow the face.
Can it be done without using plates and screws?
Some surgeons use plates and screws and I don’t used them and have been doing this procedure over twenty years and found it to be very effective even without the use of plates and screws I hold it in and the bone pretty much stays in place within a week and within 3 weeks it will be healed so you get the desired effect.
Are any scars left after the procedure?
The incision to do this surgery is mostly from inside the mouth and patients don't really see any external scars with cheek reduction.
Patients considering a cheekbone reduction are encouraged to schedule a consultation visit with Dr. Kwan t
